ID Requirements

*** PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE REQUIREMENTS APPLY TO THE PERSON DELIVERING THE MATERIAL IRRESPECTIVE OF WHOM PAYMENT IS MADE TO ***

New regulations came into force on 1st October 2013 with the aim of improving the traceability of scrap metal as it is sold

To support this, one of the requirements is for the person delivering the metal to prove their identity before the receiving yard is able to accept the metal

The regulations specify that the following documents are the ONLY acceptable ways to prove your identity:

  • A valid UK Photocard Driving Licence that is in date and shows your current address
  • OR

  • A valid UK or EEA Passport that is in date and accompanied by one of the following documents showing your address:
    • A Council Tax bill or statement
    • A bank statement
    • A credit card statement
    • A land line phone bill
    • A gas, water or electricity bill

    This document must be dated no earlier than 3 months prior to the date of delivery and must show the same name as your passport


PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE REQUIREMENTS APPLY TO THE PERSON DELIVERING THE MATERIAL IRRESPECTIVE OF WHOM PAYMENT IS MADE TO

EVEN IF YOU ENGAGE A THIRD PARTY (eg a haulier) TO DELIVER YOUR MATERIAL, THAT THIRD PARTY DRIVER MUST PROVE THEIR IDENTITY AS PRESCRIBED ABOVE
